Towards the end of my daughter’s pregnancy, we were in the local yarn store and she saw a small baby’s blanket made up as a sample. She fell in love with it and decided she was going to knit one. She had only just learnt to knit and had finished a wee singlet for her baby. I didn’t think it such a good idea to buy the wool for this blanket as she was halfway through knitting a cardigan for her baby and she only had a month or so left of her pregnancy and being a new knitter, she was still a bit slow.
So what did she do? She discarded the cardigan and asked me to cast on for her baby blanket. Then she had her baby and the knitted blanket and cardigan were no more.
I finished the blanket for her (she had only got one pattern completed) and the baby is now snug and warm when she goes out in the car. The blanket is 52cm by 67cm and is a perfect size for the capsule.
(The baby cardigan is 0 to 3 months so I had better hurry and finish that for her or baby will have grown out of it.)
